On Wednesday 8 October, the Franco-Arab Chamber of Commerce launched a series of meetings on Artificial Intelligence in the Arab world as an accelerator of development.
Speakers included Mr Arnaud Barthelemy (Alpha Intelligence Capital) on the challenges and evolution of AI; Mr François Mattens (XXII) on use cases across several sectors, notably transport in Dubai; Dr Rachad Najjar on training; Ms Sefta (Owkin) on healthcare; and Mr Karim Mazoir (Mind2shake) on innovation.
Ms Kanaan, Secretary-General of the CCFA, for her part addressed the decisive experiences and strategies of Egypt, Morocco, Qatar, the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, as well as the social, human, cultural and economic dimensions of AI.
In his opening remarks, President Reina outlined a number of challenges and figures: the global AI market is estimated at 17.7 trillion dollars by 2030; AI-powered data-driven decision-making could add 1,200 billion dollars to the Middle East’s GDP by 2030; and he noted that the challenges of training and ethics are real ones. He concluded on the role the Franco-Arab Chamber of Commerce could play in this context, as a key player in uniting French and Arab forces to build a shared innovation ecosystem.
